THE DOLOMITES, A UNESCO NATURAL WORLD HERITAGE SITE

250 million years ago, a tropical sea was home
to an incredible expanse of corals and algae:

the Dolomites, declared a UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site in 2009.
The so-called “Pale Mountains” comprise a total of 9 mountain groups.
The most famous symbol of the Dolomites is the extraordinary Tre Cime di Lavaredo.

Your Chalet in the outskirts of Monguelfo in Pustertal

Our Silentium Dolomites Chalet in the Puster Valley is located in the outskirts of Monguelfo, just one kilometre from the centre. The house, recently restored with painstaking detail, is located right next to the forest and affords a wonderful view of meadows and fields.

Monguelfo – the central village in the Val Pusteria is the ideal starting point for many activities. Hiking trails, open in winter and summer, literally pass right outside the front door.

The village with its beautiful Castle "Welsperg" offers a pleasant ambiance with many shops, cafes, restaurants and sports facilities, as for example ...

  • Tennis courts with floodlights, a new mini golf course and a striking panoramic outdoor swimming pool.
  • Only 100 meters from the Chalet there is the popular bike path “Val Pusteria”. How about a bike ride to Lienz (A) and return by train? For mountain bikers there are many options – Every year, the famous "Dolomiti Super Bike" takes place in the Upper Pusteria Valley.
  • The Braies Valley is only a few kilometres away. Don’t miss a visit to Lake Braies and one of the most beautiful high plateaus in South Tyrol – the Prato Piazza (2000 m).
  • The many placid peaks of the Casies Valley, the alpine tours in the Vedrette-Ries area in the Aurina Valley or the rugged, steep walls of the Sesto Dolomites offer perfect conditions for outdoor enthusiasts.

Our recommendation:

Visit the Lago di Braies.
Famous from the movie "Un passo dal cielo" with Terence Hill.

The list of exciting leisure activities continues also in the winter.

You may start your snowshoe hikes directly at the Silentium Dolomites Chalet.

The 100-km cross-country ski trail in the Val Pusteria is just 100 meters away. Cortina, Sesto, Anterselva, and Casies – all these places may be reached on cross-country skis.

With the ski train, the so-called "Ski Pustertal Express", Monguelfo now occupies a very special position.

Thanks to the location between three top ski resorts, our guests have different choices every day. They may take the train to Versciaco-Monte Elmo to Three Peaks/3 Zinnen Dolomites ski resort, or to Perca to reach Plan de Corones (15 min.) or to Cortina.

Furthermore, there is a lovely ski lift in the village, which is particularly suitable for our youngest guests.

THREE PEAKS DOLOMITES SKI RESORT:
WINTER HOLIDAYS IN THE DOLOMITES

Who wouldn’t dream of taking their skis
to the most beautiful part of the Dolomites?
Of course, we’re talking about the Sextner Dolomites
and its world-famous Three Peaks.

Skiing in the Dolomites

The aspiring ski resort with 93 km of slopes and 32 lift system facilities has the best quality of slopes in Italy (2015/16 test champion of the Skiarea Test) and thanks to the modern Helm Rotwand ski area connection, it has also been awarded the title “Greatest Improver of the Year”.

Thanks to the new rail connections, the villages of Sexten, Innichen, Toblach, Niederdorf and Prags, and their five interlinked ski mountains between South Tyrol and Veneto can now take advantage of Kronplatz: this union opens a ski area of 200 km of slopes (Ski Pustertal Express). Certainly, an exceptional alpine highlight.
